Frequently Asked Questions
What is tunable white lighting?
Tunable white (TW) uses two LED channels — warm (2700K) and cool (6500K) — mixed at different ratios to produce any CCT in between. Used for circadian lighting, hospitality scenes, and healthcare applications.
How do I calculate mixed CCT?
Mixed CCT is calculated using the reciprocal formula: 1/CCT_mix = (ratio_warm/CCT_warm) + (ratio_cool/CCT_cool). This accounts for the non-linear nature of the Kelvin scale. Our calculator handles this automatically.
What CCT is best for offices?
Offices typically use 4000K for a neutral, productive atmosphere. However, circadian lighting systems tune from 2700K (morning/evening) to 5000K (midday) to support natural alertness cycles.
What is Duv in lighting?
Duv measures how far a light source deviates from the black-body curve. Positive Duv appears greenish, negative appears pinkish. High-quality LEDs stay within ±0.003 Duv. Values beyond ±0.006 are visually noticeable.
